Initiated by: Journal of Buddhist Studies (JBS)
Objective: Establish a comprehensive Buddhist library with two locations: Journal of Buddhist Studies's Office in San Diego, California, and Dharma Cloud Meditation Library in Pennsylvania.
Project Scope:
1. Book Collection: Gather a diverse collection of Buddhist texts, commentaries, and studies.
2. Bookshelves and Storage: Purchase bookshelves and storage materials to organize and maintain the library.
3. Volunteer Work: Recruit volunteers to help with cataloging, shelving, and maintaining the library.
4. Library Management: Develop a system for tracking and managing the library's collection.
Implementation Plan:
Short-term (Next 3 months):
1. Book Drive: Launch a book drive to collect donations of Buddhist texts and studies.
2. Bookshelf Purchase: Purchase bookshelves and storage materials for both locations.
3. Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit volunteers to help with cataloging, shelving, and maintaining the library.
Mid-term (Next 6 months):
1. Library Organization: Organize and catalog the library's collection.
2. Library Management System: Develop and implement a system for tracking and managing the library's collection.
3. Volunteer Training: Provide training for volunteers on library management and maintenance.
Long-term (Next 1-2 years):
1. Library Expansion: Continuously expand the library's collection through donations and purchases.
2. Community Outreach: Establish partnerships with local Buddhist communities, universities, and organizations to promote the library and its resources.
3. Online Presence: Develop an online platform for accessing the library's catalog and resources.
